Hamas has provided feedback on a US-supported proposal for a Gaza ceasefire and a swap of captives for prisoners, according to Qatari and Egyptian mediators.
In a joint statement, Hamas and Islamic Jihad (PIJ) expressed readiness to engage positively in reaching an agreement, emphasizing the need to halt Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza.
Senior Hamas official Osama Hamdan mentioned that the group had shared their comments on the proposal with the mediators, without disclosing specifics.
A Hamas representative informed Reuters that the group’s response underlined the importance of ending Israeli aggression, withdrawing Israeli forces, rebuilding Gaza, and facilitating a significant prisoner exchange.
Qatar and Egypt, in collaboration with the United States, are reviewing the response and continuing mediation efforts to achieve a resolution.

Al Jazeera’s Imran Khan reported that Hamas and PIJ leaders have included amendments in their response, such as a complete withdrawal from Gaza, including key border crossings.
According to Khan, the Israeli objective is to dismantle Hamas politically and militarily.
