House Republicans are set to vote on articles of impeachment while the possibility of new Ukraine aid seems unlikely due to an immigration standoff.
During a private meeting, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell advised his fellow lawmakers to vote against the immigration policy bill if they were not in favor of it. This comes as a result of the influence of Donald Trump, who has a strong stance on immigration and is expected to secure the GOP presidential nomination once again.
Former President Trump has urged lawmakers to reject the bill, further complicating the situation.
Later today, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will host a White House reception in honor of Black History Month at 5:30pm ET.
Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is scheduled to appear before the House financial services committee at 10am to discuss the stability of America’s financial system, with expectations of questions on various other topics.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre will address reporters’ questions at 1:30pm.
