Ivan Reitman, legendary director and producer of the unique Ghostbusters films, has died at 75.
Reitman died in his sleep at his dwelling in Montecito, California, on Saturday, his household confirmed to the Associated Press. The explanation for demise was not launched.

“Our household is grieving the surprising lack of a husband, father, and grandfather who taught us to all the time search the magic in life,” his youngsters, director Jason Reitman, Catherine Reitman and Caroline Reitman stated through a joint assertion.
“We take consolation that his work as a filmmaker introduced laughter and happiness to numerous others world wide. While we mourn privately, we hope those that knew him by his movies will keep in mind him all the time.”
Reitman was well-known for steering 1984’s Ghostbusters and its 1989 sequel. The unique film influenced well-liked tradition for many years to come back, its costumes cropping up in Stranger Things, and its theme tune unmistakable. It was so profitable it spawned a franchise, together with the 2016 reboot of the identical title and 2021’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife, directed by Reitman’s son, Jason.
Reitman was additionally recognized for steering Stripes (1981), Twins (1988) and Kindergarten Cop (1990).
