Get Ready: Windows 11 Beta Testers Could Soon Encounter Ads in the Start Menu by Microsoft

Microsoft is considering the possibility of incorporating advertisements⁣ into the ⁤Start menu of ⁣Windows 11. Specifically,⁣ they are looking to showcase ads for apps available in the Microsoft Store in the recommended section of ‌the menu. If you’re⁤ familiar with Windows 10, you might‌ recall seeing ads in the Start menu for downloadable apps. Currently, these ads will only be displayed to users in the US who are Windows Insiders in the Beta Channel. If you’re not part of the beta testing program or using a device managed by ⁣an organization,⁢ you won’t ‌encounter these‍ ads.

However, you have ⁣the option to⁤ turn off these ads completely. Simply navigate to⁢ Personalization in Settings and disable “Show ‍recommendations for ‌tips, app⁣ promotions, and more” in the Start section. ⁤While this feature may not ‍be widely implemented,‌ it’s good to be aware of these steps in case Microsoft decides to proceed with it.
