Constellation Gemini

Gemini is one of the 88 modern constellations and is visible in both the northern and southern hemispheres. It is marked by the symbol of “♊︎”, which represents the mythical twins, Castor and Pollux. The constellation Gemini is associated with the zodiac sign of the same name, spanning between May 21 and June 21.

Within Gemini, you will find several deep-sky objects, including the Eskimo Nebula (NGC 2392) and the Jellyfish Nebula (IC 443). The Eskimo Nebula, situated 2,870 light-years away from Earth, derives its name from its resemblance to a face surrounded by a fur hood. On the other hand, the Jellyfish Nebula, located approximately 5,000 light-years away, is a supernova remnant that resembles a jellyfish when seen in photographs.

To locate the Gemini constellation, find the famous constellation Orion and look for two bright stars nearby. The twins appear as part of the winter sky in the northern hemisphere and the summer sky in the southern hemisphere. Gemini is best observed during the months of January and February, when it reaches its highest point in the sky during the evening hours.
