Over the past few years, Denuvo, an Austrian company, has been a regular participant at the Gamescom exhibition, renting space there. The company’s marketers believed that this would be an excellent opportunity to engage with publishers and promote their product.
However, things didn’t go as planned. A photo from this year’s Gamescom went viral, showing a solitary Denuvo representative at their booth with no customers. Despite the recent announcement of new features for protecting Switch images from emulation and ensuring data integrity in Unreal Engine games, they failed to generate interest among customers.
Online jokes suggest that the company representative bears a suspicious resemblance to the hacker EMPRESS, a collective internet persona.
