Ford Motor is transforming a once-abandoned train station in Detroit, long seen as a symbol of the city’s decline, into a cutting-edge technology campus and mixed-use property.

Located in Detroit, Ford’s latest venture involves reviving and repurposing a historic train station that had been left neglected for years, serving as a poignant reminder of the city’s struggles but now set to become the hub of the automaker’s technological advancements.
This $950 million initiative includes the renovation of the iconic 18-story Michigan Central Station, along with a 270,000-square-foot building and various supporting facilities.
The Michigan Central campus and station, spanning 30 acres, were first announced in 2018 with a target opening date of 2022. However, due to the pandemic and the extensive restoration work required, the reopening was delayed. Ford is marking the completion of the restoration of this historic train station on Thursday.
