Introducing the 2024 Ford Mustang! Ford Motor is seizing the opportunity to expand Mustang sales now that it’s the last American muscle car with a traditional V8 engine. This move is aimed at appealing to generations of gearheads who have always been attracted to high-performance vehicles.
The positive outlook comes after the production of muscle cars by Mustang’s closest American competitors came to an end in December. General Motors ceased production of the Chevrolet Camaro, and Stellantis stopped producing its Dodge Challenger V8 in anticipation of a new all-electric muscle car later this year, followed by gas-powered models with twin-turbo, inline-six engines expected in 2025.
The departure of these competitors, along with others in the muscle car market, is a result of changing consumer demand away from two-door cars, as well as stricter fuel economy standards and the rise of all-electric vehicles capable of unmatched acceleration.
