The countdown to days without layoffs has been reset, and this time, Behaviour Interactive is the company in focus. Reports indicate that up to 95 employees will be affected by the upcoming layoffs.
The majority of layoffs are expected to impact specialists based in the Montreal office, with approximately 70 positions set to be eliminated. In an official statement, Behaviour Interactive management openly acknowledged the decision, attributing it to intense market competition resulting from the industry’s recent rapid expansion.
Just half a decade ago, Behaviour Interactive boasted a workforce of 575 employees, a number that has since swelled to 1300. The studio’s portfolio includes titles like Silent Hill: Ascension, Meet Your Maker, Halo Wars: Definitive Edition, and various mobile games.
Assurances have been made by Behaviour Interactive management that the support for their flagship game, Dead by Daylight, will remain unaffected by the layoffs. Furthermore, the company plans to refocus its development efforts on horror and other core strengths of the business.
Interestingly, news of the impending layoffs coincided with the introduction of a new chapter in DBD, featuring the arch-lich Vekna as a new addition to the game.
