Bluesky, the social network that recently opened its doors to the public and introduced new moderation options, has now decided to welcome world leaders on board. In a recent announcement from the official Bluesky account, users were informed that the platform has lifted its ‘no heads of state’ policy. This policy had been in place for the past year while Bluesky navigated the challenges of being a new social network.
Initially an invite-only platform since its launch in February 2023, Bluesky removed the waitlist in February of this year. Last May, Bluesky had expressed that it was not yet prepared for heads of state to join and had requested users to inform the support team before inviting prominent figures. With a user base now exceeding 5 million, Bluesky saw a significant increase in users, with over a million new sign-ups in just one day after eliminating the need for invite codes.
