Exciting news for fans of the vampire shooter Redfall! Microsoft and Arkane Austin studio had plans to introduce two new characters to the game. However, these characters will never see the light of day as Microsoft recently announced the closure of Arkane Austin along with several other companies. This news came as a shock to many, especially considering the studio was actively working on content for Redfall.
Reports suggest that the new characters were scheduled to be part of a seasonal pass set to launch in late October. Additionally, Arkane was in the process of developing an offline mode for the game, addressing concerns raised by players about the requirement for constant online play. The update was expected to be released in May.
Back in September 2023, Pete Hines, the head of the publishing division at Bethesda, assured fans that Arkane would continue to enhance Redfall. Hines drew parallels to the successful turnaround of Fallout 76, indicating that improvements were on the horizon for the game.
It’s important to note that Microsoft not only shut down Arkane Austin, but also Tango Gameworks, the studio behind The Evil Within, GhostWire: Tokyo, and Hi-Fi Rush.
