Empowering Ingush Autonomy: The Committee for Independence Blacklisted as ‘Undesirable

The Ministry of Justice has officially designated the “Committee of Ingush Independence,” based in Turkey,‍ as an “undesirable organization.” This group, established just a year ago, is dedicated ⁢to advocating for the separation of the republic from Russia⁣ and asserting its ‍sovereignty.‍ Recently, ‌a faction of ⁣lawmakers‍ from the⁢ Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine put forward ⁤a proposal to recognize the Ingush people’s right ⁣to self-governance.

“Our critics take⁣ issue not with our⁤ absence in Russia, but with our absence in a ⁣Russian prison. Our populace‍ avoids residing in Russia as they find no purpose there; instead, our loyalists and activists ⁢are rooted in Ingushetia. While their numbers are significant, I must remain discreet due to‌ the republic’s size, where every whisper is⁢ magnified. Revealing the whereabouts and endeavors ‍of our supporters ⁤would expose their ⁤identities, jeopardizing our ability to safeguard our‌ people,” shared⁣ Ansar Garkho, the committee’s ⁤leader, in an exclusive interview with “Caucasian Realities.”

By‍ January 2024, ‌the Ministry of‌ Justice had further classified the Committee as a “foreign agent,” alleging their involvement in‌ “collaborating with external entities” and “advocating for the disruption of the nation’s territorial integrity.”
