Elon Musk Summoned to Testify in SEC’s Probe of Twitter Takeover: Court Ruling Forces CEO to Face Investigation

A federal judge has ‍issued an order for Elon Musk to comply⁢ with the⁣ U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission’s (SEC) subpoena‌ and testify again in its investigation of⁤ his Twitter takeover. The order, filed in a⁢ California court, gives Musk and the SEC a week to arrange ⁢his appearance. The SEC has been⁢ looking into Musk’s purchase of ‍Twitter, now ⁢X, ‌since⁢ 2022 due to‌ concerns about his delayed disclosure of his stake in‍ Twitter.

This order follows Musk’s failure to appear for⁤ a testimony in September and ⁤his refusal to⁤ attend a rescheduled interview, leading to the SEC’s lawsuit. US‌ Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler ruled in favor of the SEC after Musk challenged its subpoena, claiming it sought irrelevant information and amounted to harassment. However, the SEC argues that‌ it has ⁣obtained new documents related to the case.
