After implementing DRM for DLSS 3 Frame Generation mods for Red Dead Redemption 2 and the recent Starfield mod developed by Chinese modder PureDark, a hacker who was not satisfied with the modder’s decision decided to crack the Starfield mod, which has VMProtect protection and its own DRM (which is why the mod required authentication on the Discord server when launching the game).
Prior to implementing DRM, many of the modder’s patrons mentioned that they would stop paying for the mod if DRM was not removed, which PureDark did not do, and many ultimately agreed to no longer pay for the subscription that granted them access to the mods.
As many know, the game does not have the best performance even when using high-performance processors such as the recommended AMD for 4K (Ryzen 7 7800X3D), so this mod fixes it and allows doubling the frame rate, as you can see in the comparative video recorded by the modder in the city of New Atlantis, which is one of the most demanding locations in the game. Using an RTX 4070 Ti and Ryzen 5 5600x, PureDark increased the average speed from 50 frames per second to 100 frames per second with frame generation enabled, and the free DLSS 2 mod provides better visualization than AMD FSR2 technology.
