The plea for help from the director of one of Gaza’s remaining operational hospitals is urgent and critical. Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, who oversees Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern Gaza, is calling on the global community to intervene immediately as Israeli forces have encircled the medical facility.
Dr. Abu Safia describes the current situation as nothing short of horrifying, emphasizing that complying with Israeli orders to evacuate the hospital would be nearly impossible due to the presence of around 400 civilians, including vulnerable infants in need of life-saving equipment.
The ongoing bombardment has left the hospital and its staff at risk, with explosions impacting various parts of the building. The gravity of this situation cannot be overstated,” Dr. Abu Safia stated.
Outside Kamal Adwan Hospital, witnesses have reported seeing suspicious packages marked with “danger” being delivered by automated vehicles believed to be explosives planted by Israeli forces.
Al Jazeera’s correspondent in Gaza reports that Israeli military has deployed explosive robots around the hospital premises, raising concerns about potential catastrophic consequences for both patients and medical personnel.
The deliberate targeting and destruction surrounding Kamal Adwan Hospital are clear indications that further escalation may occur soon if immediate action is not taken,” he warned.
Dr. Abu Safia emphasizes that their hospital is under direct threat from Israeli attacks aimed at causing harm and displacement among its occupants. The relentless bombing overnight resulted in extensive damage to nearby structures and homes,” he lamented.
