Devastated Areas are the remnants of buildings post Israel-Hamas conflict.
A year ago, Gaza turned into a battleground as Israel initiated a military operation to eliminate Hamas following the Oct 7 attacks led by Hamas. The aftermath of the war has left Gaza in ruins, with tens of thousands dead and almost the entire population displaced multiple times.
Approximately 60 percent of structures in this besieged region have been damaged or razed to the ground, covering an area half the size of New York City. Videos and images captured before and after the conflict in severely affected areas like Khan Younis, Gaza City, and Jabaliya depict the extensive devastation across Gaza.
Israel’s objective was to eradicate Hamas and dismantle their underground tunnel network. However, this mission resulted in widespread destruction in an area inhabited by around two million people.
54% of structures have likely been damaged or destroyed.
Located in southern Gaza is Khan Younis governorate, extending from its historic medieval city with a citadel wall to fertile fields cultivated by generations past.
