Boeing issued a warning on Tuesday regarding a new defect found on its 787 Dreamliner planes, which will result in a delay in the delivery of the wide-body aircraft. This is the latest production issue faced by the manufacturer.

“We are inspecting 787s in our inventory for a nonconforming condition related to a fitting on the horizontal stabilizer,” Boeing stated. “Airplanes found to have a nonconforming condition will be reworked prior to ticket and delivery.”

The issue that Boeing detected is related to a small spacing in the horizontal stabilizer. The company has clarified that it is not related to flight safety and that planes in service can continue to operate. Boeing has stated that near-term deliveries will be delayed by approximately two weeks.

This problem is the latest in a series of manufacturing issues that have slowed down, if not halted, deliveries of Boeing planes…
