The Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an attack on the Lenin district in occupied Donetsk using HIMARS MLRS, where a car rally was taking place to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the ”DPR” independence, as reported by the Russian news agency RIA Novosti, citing a correspondent.
Initial reports indicate that one person was killed and four others were injured, according to investigative authorities. The Telegram channel “Rybar” reported “five dead and six wounded.”
Reports from the Telegram channel “Mash in Donbass” and Wargozno suggest that the Paradise restaurant at the hotel was hit, where participants of the car rally had gathered. The explosion occurred just as the cars were about to start, leading to the cancellation of the rally due to safety concerns of further shelling, as per Wargozno.
Updated on May 11, 3:14 PM. The leader of the “DPR” Denis Pushilin stated that three people were killed and eight others were injured. He mentioned that all the casualties were inside the Paradise restaurant in the Kirovsky district, with a direct impact on the building.
“One of the American HIMARS missiles struck the restaurant directly (causing damage to the outer wall, windows around the building, and outdoor structures), while the second missile hit a nearby unfinished building (causing roof damage),” Pushilin explained.
