Valve has issued a warning to Counter-Strike 2 players regarding AMD’s latest graphics driver, as it may result in bans. The issue stems from AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature, which triggers Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) system and causes it to mistake the driver’s low-latency mode for cheating.
The problem lies in Anti-Lag+ intercepting and redirecting Dynamic Link Library (DLL) functions. VAC considers DLL reroutes as cheats (which is often the case), potentially leading to players being kicked out of Counter-Strike 2.
A Reddit thread discussing the problem reveals that “many players” have reported receiving VAC bans after using the latest AMD driver (23.10.1). One user, u/Volfong, sarcastically commented, “It seems that VAC is banning everyone BUT the cheaters.” Another user, u/trkemrasr, confirmed their ban and mentioned that Anti-Lag+ was enabled, adding, “They better reverse this quickly.”
Valve intends to address the issue by valve.html” title=”Counter-Strike 2 bans possible due to AMD’s anti-lag feature, warns Valve”>identifying affected users and lifting their bans once AMD releases an update.
