Concerns Raised Over Potential Breach of International Law by Israel in Gaza, Says British FM

British Foreign Minister David​ Cameron has expressed concerns about potential breaches of international ⁢law during ⁣Israel’s war on⁤ Gaza. While he has received ​advice indicating Israel’s compliance, there are still unanswered questions.

Speaking to the British parliament’s Foreign‌ Affairs Committee ‍on Tuesday, Cameron described some of the events he witnessed in the besieged ⁣Palestinian territory as “deeply concerning.”

During a question-and-answer session with lawmakers, Cameron acknowledged ‍that ⁢Israel could ⁢face a potential challenge from⁤ the International Criminal‌ Court (ICC) in the Hague regarding the proportionality ⁣of its​ actions. He stated that the stance was “close to that.”

Although Cameron did not directly address whether he had received ⁤legal advice suggesting Israel’s violation of the law, he acknowledged that certain‍ incidents‌ raised⁤ doubts about potential breaches. He⁣ stated, “Am I worried that Israel has ⁤taken action ⁢that might be in breach of international law because this particular premises has been bombed, or whatever? Yes, ⁣of course.”

Cameron emphasized that there‌ is always uncertainty regarding whether a specific incident has ‌violated international law, and legal experts would assess and advise him accordingly.
