By 2023, AI-powered computers will dominate enterprise PC purchases

The latest forecast from‍ Gartner predicts that global revenue from AI semiconductors‍ will reach $71 billion this year, marking a 33% increase​ from 2023.

Looking ahead, the AI chip industry⁣ revenue is expected ‌to surpass $91.5 billion by the end of 2025, with continued double-digit growth anticipated ​through at least ⁢2028.

Gartner’s report⁢ reveals that by the end of 2026, all enterprise PC ⁣purchases will ​be AI PCs, equipped⁣ with neural processing units for on-computer AI operations. These AI PCs offer‍ enhanced performance, efficiency, and new‌ opportunities for integrating AI into daily‌ tasks.

It is projected ⁤that AI PC shipments will ‍represent 22% of total PC shipments ‍by 2024.

This ⁤year, a significant portion of AI chips revenue is forecasted to come from AI-enabled personal computers, accounting for nearly half of the ‍total revenue. By the ​end ‌of the⁤ year, AI ⁤chips revenue from computer electronics is expected‌ to reach⁤ $33.4 billion,​ making up 47% of⁣ the total AI‍ semiconductors revenue.

Alan Priestley, a vice president​ analyst at Gartner, highlights the⁤ growing demand for high-performance⁤ AI ⁣chips‍ in ⁢data centers driven by ‌generative AI ⁢(genAI).⁣ The value of AI accelerators used in servers is​ projected to reach $21 billion in 2024 and increase to $33 billion by ⁤2028.

In addition, AI chips revenue from automotive ​electronics ⁢is anticipated to hit $7.1 billion this year, with consumer electronics contributing $1.8 billion.
