Looking for a secluded getaway? Barlocco Island, a 25-acre uninhabited island with stunning views of the Scottish coastline, is now up for sale for at least 150,000 British pounds (about $186,000). However, reaching the island is no easy feat, and staying there for an extended period of time is even more challenging.
Galbraith, a Scottish real estate firm, listed the island for sale on Thursday. Barlocco Island is located in the county of Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland, approximately six miles from the nearest town, Gatehouse of Fleet. It takes about two hours to drive from Glasgow to the town. The island is only accessible by boat or, during low tide, by all-terrain vehicle or foot over a rock causeway.
Although there are no buildings or dwellings on the island, it does have a pebble beach and a flood pond that could provide water for livestock and wildlife during extreme rainfall. The island is also located within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, a designation for land that the Scottish government considers to be of significant scientific or conservation interest.
