Apple’s Q3 Smartphone Sales in China Decline as Huawei’s Skyrocket

Apple faced a decline in iPhone sales in China during the third quarter, despite⁣ regaining a‍ top ⁣five position. Meanwhile, Huawei experienced growth amidst fierce competition in the smartphone market.

According to Reuters, Apple’s ‍sales dropped by 0.3%, while Huawei saw a significant increase of 42% during the same period.

Data from IDC revealed that ‌Apple climbed back to second place among smartphone companies with‍ its new iPhone⁢ 16⁢ series launch. The company held a market ​share of 15.6%, slightly lower than the previous year.

IDC ⁤stated⁣ that initial⁢ sales for Apple’s new iPhones were promising and anticipated future demand due to upcoming promotions and the launch ⁣of Apple Intelligence.

Vivo maintained its lead as the top vendor with‌ a market share of​ 18.6%, leveraging effective product positioning strategies across its brands.

Huawei secured third⁢ place ⁣with a market⁤ share of 15.3%, gaining ground with high-end phone ⁤offerings​ like the Mate‍ 60 series featuring⁤ domestically ⁤produced chips.

In⁤ addition to their ‌Mate series, Huawei introduced other innovative ‍phones like Pura 70 earlier this year.


Xiaomi also saw ​growth with an increased market share of 14.8% and secured fourth place by catering to⁤ budget-conscious⁢ consumers ⁤while expanding into high-end segments.

Honor claimed fifth place driven by popular models like X50 and made ⁢significant strides in‌ foldable phones with models like Magic Flip and ⁣Magic V3.....

“We expect⁤ this positive trend to continue into Q4,” said Jacob Zhu from IDC Asia/Pacific.
