Apology from Pixies for interfering with your Google Assistant alarm

Google Assistant has a feature that allows users to say “Stop” to end an alarm early without having to say “Hey Google” first. This feature was first introduced on Assistant-enabled smart displays and speakers before being rolled out to Pixel smartphones. However, a recent Reddit post by Pixel user “asevarte” revealed a fun quirk of the feature that involves the Pixies classic “Where Is My Mind?”

According to asevarte, their morning alarm would sometimes turn off moments after going off for no apparent reason. They would then wake up 30 minutes later on their backup alarm with no indication as to why the first alarm shut off. After waking up early to investigate the issue, asevarte discovered that the Pixies classic was the culprit.

The issue occurred because the phrase “stop” in “Where Is My Mind?” triggered the Google Assistant’s “Stop” command, causing the alarm to end prematurely. The Pixies have since apologized for sabotaging users’ Google Assistant alarms.
