Reports from The Wall Street Journal reveal allegations of inappropriate behavior, racism, and illegal dismissals by Klaus Schwab, the founder and longtime chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos. The accusations were made by 80 former and current employees of the forum.
Incidents of harassment towards women by WEF leaders were also highlighted in the article. Female employees reported being mistreated by senior managers and VIP guests. It is claimed that Schwab often made inappropriate comments about women’s appearance and discriminated against pregnant employees.
Furthermore, complaints were raised about racial discrimination within the organization. Employees of color were allegedly referred to using a racial slur and faced obstacles in career advancement. Schwab’s decision to dismiss older employees in favor of a younger workforce also drew criticism.
Despite attempts to influence the article, Schwab announced his resignation as head of the forum in response to the allegations. He will continue to serve as non-executive chairman of the board of trustees.
