Candulhallow’s Tombstones is a secret area in Baldur’s Gate 3 connected to a serial killer investigation in Act 3. This shop hides a door to the Bhaalist Crypt, where you can either continue your investigation into the murders around the Lower City or try to become an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal by pleasing the Murder Tribunal within.
If you are searching for Candulhallow’s Tombstones, you are either on the quest “Investigate the Murders” or “Impress the Murder Tribunal.” Both are subquests connected to the main story quest, “Get Orin’s Netherstone.” One is a good-aligned mission to stop a serial killer on a reign of terror across the city, while the other seeks to win favor from those who ordered the killings.

To access the Temple of Bhaal in Baldur’s Gate 3, hidden underneath Candulhallow’s Tombstones, you must check behind a painting with a skull beside a flower base. A button behind the painting will move a nearby bookcase, revealing a door with a red handprint. This is the entrance to the Bhaalist Crypt, but you will want to be picky about how you enter. If you find the killer, a dwarf named Dolor, or follow the “Impress the Murder Tribunal” quest, you will get a special codeword that gives you easy access to the crypt.
The Bhaalist Crypt has one of the best pieces of heavy armor in Baldur’s Gate 3. Upon entering the crypt, the party will meet a group of NPCs; That Which Guards, That Which Lurks, and That Which Watches. Upon killing the trio, you can equip Blackguard’s Plate Armor, which has an AC of 19, provides an advantage for Wisdom Saving Throws, and reduces all incoming damage by one. You will also get Blackguard’s Sword and Shield of the Undevout. If you become an Unholy Assassin, you will get a few special items for your inventory. You can equip some specialty Bhaalist armor and wield a Vicious Axe.
