The Moscow Drama Theater named after M.N. Ermolova and 1C Game Studios have joined forces to create the captivating game “War of the Worlds: Siberia”, featuring talented local actors in the development of unique characters.
Innovative digital representations of the actors will be utilized to bring the game characters to life, incorporating their facial expressions, movements, and voices for a truly immersive experience.
An intriguing video has been unveiled, showcasing the behind-the-scenes process of animation recording and the exciting collaboration between the theater and the game studio.
“My passion for the theater runs deep, attending weekly performances or even creating new ones when needed. The rich theatrical heritage we have serves as a solid foundation for this project. The theater has proven to be dynamic and modern, exceeding expectations. I am thrilled with the progress,” expressed Sergey Volkov, the executive director of 1C Game Studios.
“While we excel in technology and gameplay, storytelling is an art we are still mastering. The theater, with centuries of experience, excels in this aspect. By merging the worlds of theater and gaming, we aim to create a compelling virtual world that resonates with players. It’s a challenging endeavor, but one we are committed to. Our team has a unique opportunity to transport players to a familiar yet unfamiliar era. I am dedicated to crafting characters that evoke a range of emotions,” shared Andrey Shumakov, the game director of “War of the Worlds: Siberia.”
The highly anticipated “War of the Worlds: Siberia” was officially announced in August 2023. This linear third-person adventure action game is set in an alternate 1896 where Earth faces a Martian invasion. Players will guide multiple heroes as they escape the chaos of Petrograd, journeying eastward across the vast Russian Empire.
The game is set to launch on PC initially, with plans for a console release in the future.
