West Indies Break 27-Year Drought to Shock Australia in Brisbane

Shamar Joseph, the​ West Indies fast bowler, displayed incredible resilience as he battled through pain to lead his inexperienced ‍team to ‌an extraordinary eight-run upset over ⁢Australia in the second Test in Brisbane.

After being forced ‌to retire hurt from​ a toe-crushing yorker by Mitchell Starc, Joseph returned to claim six‍ wickets in a⁣ single​ session and 7-68⁢ overall, securing West Indies’ first test win in Australia since 1997. Australia was bowled out for ‌207 in pursuit of 216 on Sunday.

Despite ⁢Australia’s new opener⁣ Steve Smith’s unbeaten 91, Joseph’s exceptional ⁤performance led to the⁢ tailender’s dismissal, sealing the win for ​West Indies ⁢and ⁤sparking celebrations at the ​Gabba.

Prior to the West Indies’ dismissal for 193 in their second innings, Australia’s skipper Pat Cummins ‍had bravely​ declared at 289-9, with the series ending ​1-1 after Australia’s 10-wicket victory in the first Test in⁤ Adelaide.
