The civil defamation case filed by writer E Jean Carroll against former US President Donald Trump has been delayed due to a sick juror, postponing Trump’s expected testimony.
US District Judge Lewis Kaplan announced that one of the jurors reported feeling unwell and was sent home, causing the postponement.
Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba, also revealed that at least one of her parents has COVID-19, and she experienced fever symptoms after having dinner with them a few days ago.
Both Habba and her co-counsel, Michael Madaio, tested negative for COVID-19 on Monday.
Following the announcement of the trial’s postponement, Habba requested a delay in Trump’s testimony until Wednesday due to the New Hampshire Republican primary on Tuesday.
Judge Kaplan did not immediately make a decision regarding the timing of Trump’s testimony.
