Temu, the controversial Chinese e-commerce giant, is making a comeback to the Super Bowl with a new ad that has sparked calls from lawmakers for Paramount Global and CBS not to air it.
Last year, Temu gained widespread attention after airing an ad during the Super Bowl shortly after its founding. The advertisement highlighted Temu’s competitive prices and encouraged consumers to shop ”like a billionaire.” This significant investment propelled Temu to the top, making it the most downloaded app in the U.S. by the end of 2023, with over 51 million monthly active users in January 2024, marking a nearly 300% increase from the previous year, according to Sensor Tower data.
