According to Sara Trilling, president of Starbucks North America, designing for disabilities is essential for good design for everyone. The company spent two years soliciting input from baristas to create a more accessible cafe, resulting in an unobstructed path for customers and power-operated doors for easier entry.
Inside the cafe, customers can use a new point-of-sale system with features such as an adjustable angle stand, voice assist, screen magnification, and photos of menu items. This design aims to cater to a diverse range of customers, including those who may not speak English as a first language.
