Prepare for a shift in the automotive landscape as Automaker Stellantis announces plans to lay off up to 2,450 U.S. factory workers. This decision comes as they phase out production of an older version of the Ram 1500 pickup truck in Michigan.
The Ram 1500 has long been a favorite among budget-conscious buyers and fleet customers. However, with the introduction of a new generation in 2018, the older model is being retired. It is currently being manufactured alongside the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant near Detroit.
Rest assured, the latest Ram 1500, updated for the 2025 model year, will continue production at a nearby facility without interruption.
“As we usher in the new era of the Ram 1500, the production of the Ram 1500 Classic at the Warren [Michigan] Truck Assembly Plant will cease later this year,” stated the company.
