Shaid Jamaldaev has assumed the role of the new chairman of the Chechen parliament, taking over from Magomed Daudov, who stepped down from his position on May 15. Ramzan Kadyrov announced the appointment of Jamaldaev, a close associate of the first President of the Chechen Republic, Akhmat-Hadji Kadyrov, in his Telegram channel.
Prior to his new role, Jamaldaev served as the deputy chairman of the parliament. Daudov, who led the Chechen parliament for nearly a decade, made the decision to resign and explore other opportunities.
According to Jamaldaev’s biography on the ”United Russia” website, he is 69 years old. He has held various positions in Chechnya, including head of the administration of Grozny district, assistant to the head of Chechnya, and minister of national policy, external relations, press, and information. Jamaldaev was elected as a deputy of the Chechen parliament in 2016 and later became the deputy speaker.
