Royal Mint desires to show your outdated cellphone into gold


Every 12 months we throw away thousands and thousands of tons of digital waste – outdated computer systems, cell phones, televisions. All of them have circuit boards in them.

Now the Royal Mint has discovered a technique to flip them into gold, which they plan to make use of to make commemorative cash.

BBC Science editor Rebecca Morelle has been to their manufacturing facility in Llantrisant, in South Wales to learn how it’s going to be finished.
