Renowned architect Lanfranco Cirillo has been appointed as the Senior Vice President of Sberbank, as reported by RBC. He will oversee the bank’s “Construction” division, managing all of its building projects.
Cirillo has been actively working in Russia since the early 1990s and became a Russian citizen in 2014. He is famously known for his involvement in the development of the controversial “Putin’s Palace in Gelendzhik” project, which gained attention in Alexei Navalny’s investigation. The palace, valued at 1.1 billion euros by FBK, was claimed by Cirillo to be built for the company “Stroygazconsulting” rather than the Russian president.
In 2022, Cirillo’s assets in Italy worth 141 million euros were seized due to suspected tax offenses, and a year later he faced investigations for smuggling and falsifying documents.
