Renewed Scrutiny Arises as Alaska Air Flight Experiences Boeing 737 Max Failure

Boeing’s efforts to recover from a series of⁢ quality⁤ issues ​with its popular jetliner faced a⁢ major setback on ‍Friday when ‌a panel on an Alaska Airlines⁤ flight blew out, causing a large hole in Row 26.

Less than a day later, the Federal Aviation Administration ordered the grounding of ⁢most 737 Max 9 planes⁤ worldwide, affecting approximately 171⁤ aircraft, for inspection. The agency stated on Sunday that the planes will remain grounded until they are deemed safe by the FAA.

Several factors on Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 on Friday afternoon, such as its lower altitude and⁤ unoccupied seats⁢ in critical⁤ areas, helped prevent serious injuries or worse for the 171 passengers and six crew​ members.
