The tragic news of the passing of Valery Kozhin, the operator of the Russian propaganda channel NTV, has left a deep impact. He succumbed to his injuries sustained during the shelling in Horlivka, as reported by the channel.
Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Valery’s injuries proved to be fatal, leading to his untimely demise.
Additionally, NTV correspondent Alexey Ivliev was also wounded in the same incident but is currently recovering after undergoing surgery.
According to journalist Alexander Kots, the journalists were not wearing press identification and were mistaken for military personnel due to their camouflage attire. This misunderstanding led to an unfortunate attack by a Ukrainian FPV drone, highlighting the dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones.
It is a stark reminder that journalists in war zones are vulnerable targets, emphasizing the need for caution and awareness. Russian journalists, in particular, opt not to wear traditional press vests to avoid being easily identified as they carry out their duties.
