Renowned French actor Alain Delon has sadly passed away at the age of 89, as confirmed by AFP through a statement from Delon’s children.
“With heavy hearts, Alain Fabien, Anouchka, Anthony, and even his beloved dog Lubo, announce the peaceful passing of their father at his residence in Douchy, surrounded by family. <...> During this difficult time of mourning, the family requests privacy to be respected,” the press release reads.
Born in 1935 in a Paris suburb, Alain Delon began his acting career in the late 1950s. He achieved fame through iconic roles in films like “Purple Noon,” “Rocco and His Brothers,” and “The Samurai.” Delon was honored with the César Award, the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival, the Honorary Golden Palm Branch at Cannes, and was a Knight of the Legion of Honor. After announcing his retirement in 2017, he made headlines in 2022 for his interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing solidarity with Ukraine amidst the Russian invasion.
