Pope Discloses His Involvement in a Confidential ‘Peace Mission’ in Ukraine

Pope Francis has revealed that the Vatican is involved in a secret mission to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. Speaking to reporters on his return from a three-day trip to Budapest, the Pope said that the Vatican would do “all that is humanly possible” to reunite families and return children taken from Ukraine to Russia. The Pope did not provide details of the mission, which he said was “not yet public”. However, he did say that he had discussed the situation with Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Metropolitan Hilarion, the representative of the Russian Orthodox Church in Budapest.
