Belarus has been accused of hijacking a European passenger airplane and interesting in “state terrorism”, after it compelled a Ryanair flight to carry out an emergency touchdown in Minsk and arrested an opposition blogger, who’s important of the nation’s authoritarian president Alexander Lukashenko.
The Ryanair airplane had been flying from Greece to Lithuania when it was diverted to the Belarusian capital, the place the journalist Roman Protasevich was detained by police. State media in Belarus mentioned the airplane was compelled to land due to a bomb scare.
There’s been a refrain of condemnation throughout Europe. The British overseas secretary mentioned the motion by the Belarusian authorities would have “serious implications”.
