Op­pen­heimer and Poor Things Dominate Academy Award Nominations

The 96th Academy Awards nominations have been dominated by Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, ⁢Yorgos Lanthimos’s Poor Things, and Martin Scorsese’s‍ Killers of⁤ the Flower Moon.

Nolan’s three-hour-long ⁤film about the father of the atomic bomb has received an impressive ⁤13 ‌nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, ​and acting nods for Cillian ⁣Murphy, Robert Downey Jr, and Emily Blunt.

Scorsese’s epic about the murders of‍ members of the Osage Nation in Oklahoma in the 1920s has landed 11 nominations, with Lily Gladstone becoming the first Native American actress to be Oscar-nominated for Best Actress.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has also received eight‍ nominations, including nods‍ for Best Picture, Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor, and two Best Song nominations.
