New Study Reveals How Practicing Mindfulness at Work Can Shield Against Stress and Burnout

A‌ recent study has found that‍ employees who practice mindfulness in the digital workplace are better equipped to handle‌ stress, anxiety, ⁢and overload.

Elizabeth Marsh, a Ph.D. student‍ at the School of Psychology, led the study⁣ and emphasized the importance of being mindful and confident in the digital‍ age for maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Survey participants shared their experiences with the negative effects of the digital workplace,⁢ including stress,‌ overload, anxiety,‍ fear of missing out, and addiction,‌ and how these impacted their well-being.

The findings revealed that workers who were⁢ more digitally confident were less likely to experience anxiety ⁢related to the digital workplace,​ while those with higher mindfulness were ‌better protected against‌ all negative ⁣effects. Interviews also highlighted the ways in which digital mindfulness can contribute to ​overall well-being.

Dr. Alexa⁣ Spence, Associate Professor of Psychology, noted that digital‌ workplace⁤ technologies can contribute to employee⁤ stress and burnout, emphasizing the need ‌for⁢ mindfulness in navigating the constantly evolving digital landscape.
