In a ruling by Court No. 2 of Ust-Kamenogorsk, the request from Kairat Satybaldy’s lawyers was granted, resulting in a modification of his sentence to three years, three months, and seven days of restricted freedom.
It was noted that Satybaldy, who is the nephew of Kazakhstan’s first president Nursultan Nazarbayev, has fully repaid the damages. Additionally, he voluntarily surrendered other assets worth over 700 billion tenge to the state as part of his plea for leniency.
Both the prison representative and prosecutor supported the release of the businessman from incarceration.
