Reports from Israel’s military and Hezbollah indicate that Hassan Nasrallah, the leader of Hezbollah, has been killed in an air attack on Beirut, Lebanon. This event deals a significant blow to Hezbollah as it faces increased Israeli aggression.
Israeli military spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Nadav Shoshani confirmed the death of Hassan Nasrallah on Saturday.
In addition to Nasrallah, Ali Karki and other Hezbollah commanders were also killed in a massive air strike in Beirut’s Dahiyeh suburb. The strike caused extensive damage and casualties.
“The elimination of most senior leaders of Hezbollah has been confirmed,” stated Shoshani.
Hezbollah later acknowledged Nasrallah’s death and vowed to continue their fight against Israel in solidarity with Gaza, Palestine, and Lebanon.
Israel is now on high alert following this incident.
‘Larger than life’
Hassan Nasrallah, who led Hezbollah for over three decades, was seen as a prominent political and spiritual figure. He was praised by supporters for his defiance against Israel and the United States but viewed as a terrorist leader by his adversaries.
“Hassan Nasrallah is a significant figure in Middle Eastern politics. He played a crucial role in shaping Hezbollah into the powerful force it is today,” said Al Jazeera’s Stefanie Dekker.
