Israel’s military has conducted a series of air strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen, raising concerns of a broader regional conflict following recent Israeli assaults on Gaza and Lebanon.
According to the military’s statement, numerous aircraft, including fighter jets, targeted power plants and sea port facilities at the Ras Isa and Hodeidah ports. The attack resulted in the deaths of four individuals - one port worker and three electric engineers as reported by Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV.
The air raids led to widespread power outages in Hodeidah, impacting residents across the region.
This offensive occurred after the Houthis claimed responsibility for launching a ballistic missile towards Ben Gurion International Airport near Tel Aviv in Israel.
The Iran-backed group has been actively engaging in drone and missile attacks against Israel and vessels linked to Israel since last November. They claim these actions are in solidarity with Palestinians facing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Israel’s military statement accused Iran of directing and funding the Houthis’ operations alongside Iraqi militias to destabilize regional peace and disrupt global maritime activities.
In response, the Houthis’ Supreme Political Council affirmed their unwavering support for Palestinians despite Israeli airstrikes on Yemeni territory.
