Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar has tragically lost his life in a fierce battle with the Israeli military in Gaza, as confirmed by the Palestinian group.
In an emotional televised speech, Khalil Hayya, the head of Hamas in Gaza, praised Sinwar as a courageous and unwavering leader who made the ultimate sacrifice for their cause.
Describing Sinwar’s final moments as heroic and defiant, Hayya emphasized his lifelong dedication to the struggle for liberation.
He highlighted Sinwar’s resilience during imprisonment and continued commitment after release, stating that his martyrdom will only strengthen their movement.
Hayya also demanded that Israel cease its attacks on Gaza and withdraw its forces before any captives are released from captivity.
“Hamas remains steadfast until Palestine is free with Jerusalem as its capital,” he declared passionately.
The Israeli military reported that Sinwar was killed during a surprise confrontation in Rafah, southern Gaza. According to army spokesman Daniel Hagari, he was found alone in a building after fleeing from pursuing forces.
A drone captured footage of Sinwar injured but defiant before being fatally shot. The military recovered cash and a weapon from him at the scene.
Sinwar’s DNA testing confirmed his identity following forensic examinations conducted by the military. His death marks a significant loss for Hamas but serves to inspire further determination within their ranks.
