(Bloomberg) — BYD Co. unveiled its latest high-performance⁢ fully-electric ⁢supercar, the ‌Yangwang U9, ⁣at a live-streamed event in⁢ Shanghai. Priced at​ 1.68 million yuan ($233,450),‌ the car is positioned to compete with luxury gas-guzzling options from rivals ‌like Ferrari NV and Lamborghini.

The Yangwang U9 is designed ‌exclusively for ​the China market and boasts impressive specs, including a⁤ 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) acceleration time of 2.36 ​seconds and a top speed of 309.19 km/h.

Despite​ being known⁢ for its affordable EVs, BYD⁣ has become the world’s largest EV seller, surpassing Tesla. The ​company’s luxury ⁤models are‍ marketed ‍under the Yangwang and ​Fang Cheng ‍Bao ⁤brands.
