Immersion sues Valve for its Steam Deck rumble technology.

According to The Verge, Immersion Corporation has filed a lawsuit against Valve, accusing the company of infringing on its patents with the Steam Deck handheld, Valve Index VR platform, Steam VR software, and games such as Half-Life: Alyx. Immersion is seeking an injunction against Valve from using the accused instrumentalities, as well as damages and royalties. The company cited seven specific patents dating from 2002 to 2016. Immersion has a history of suing companies over its rumble haptic technology, with Sony, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Motorola, and Fitbit all licensing its patents after settling lawsuits. While Nintendo and Sony use a different form of rumble tech, they also chose to license Immersion’s patents.
