United States Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been released⁤ from hospital after spending two weeks there to treat complications from surgery for prostate cancer he kept secret from senior administration officials, including President​ Joe Biden.

Austin, 70, was admitted to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center on December 22 ⁤for prostate cancer‍ surgery, but due to an infection, he was hospitalised again on January 1 and admitted into intensive ​care.

Biden said⁢ that while Austin’s ⁢decision not to share‍ his hospitalisation was a lapse in judgement, it did‍ not change his confidence in him.
