Hamas official Osama Hamdan has condemned Israel’s plan to create a buffer zone along its border with Gaza as a “crime” and “blatant aggression” against the Palestinian people. According to media reports, Israel is seeking to establish a security belt by demolishing residential blocks and civilian infrastructure.
Hamdan, based in Lebanon, stated that these actions are a violation of Palestinian land and holy places. He also criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him “delusional” and warning that Gaza would become the “cemetery” of his plans. Additionally, he accused the United States of supporting the Israeli military machine and complicity in crimes against Gaza.
Israeli media reported that the military aims to create a one-kilometer-wide buffer zone to protect Israeli communities near Gaza. Footage of controlled demolitions on the Gaza side of the border was shown on TV channels, following an attack that resulted in the death of 24 Israeli soldiers.
